Memorial service, procession planned for fallen Army Ranger SFC Chris Celiz

A memorial service honoring Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Andrew Celiz, 32, from Summerville, South Carolina, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. at Congregation Mickve Israel, 20 E. Gordon Street.

Celiz was killed in combat on July 12, in Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for people wanting to honor Celiz to make a donation in his honor to the Sua Sponte Foundation at suaspontefoundation.org or mail your donation to Sua Sponte Foundation,
P.O. BOX 60281, Savannah, GA 31420

A procession will take place Monday, July 16, around 7 p.m. as police officers plan to escort Celiz from Hunter Army Airfield to Gamble Funeral Home on Stephenson Ave.

The public is asked to line the route in his honor.
