LONG COUNTY, Ga. — A Long County man was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 84 near mile marker 13 in Long County, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper, Quincy Melvin.

The man identified as Arthur Foster, 47, of Long County was traveling eastbound on Highway 84 shortly after 5:30 a.m. when his left rear tire broke on his 1986 Ford pick-up truck.

According to Melvin, Foster partially pulled onto the shoulder of the road, leaving the rear of the truck exposed on the highway.  Foster exited the vehicle in an attempt to warn oncoming drivers when he was struck by Joshua Tyre, 29, who was driving a 2002 Jeep Cherokee.

Foster was pronounced dead at the scene.

Melvin said the accident is under investigation, however no charges are expected to be filed against Tyre.
