HENRY COUNTY, Ga. (WXIA) – Three people are dead following an hours-long standoff between police and an armed man in Henry County.

The incident began in Stockbridge just before 11:00 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say a pregnant woman, Sandra White, 39, and her 16-year-old son Arkeyvion White were trying to evict her live-in boyfriend.

Two Henry County Police officers were called to the home and subsequently shot.

That’s when SWAT negotiators arrived and tried to convince the gunman, 47-year-old Anthony Tony Bailey Jr., to release the woman and the teenager.

Police say 15 hours later, the suspect killed the pregnant woman and her teen son before turning the gun on himself.

Investigators say before it ended, the gunman fired several shots at officers outside the home.

“Numerous, numerous gunshots were fired,” said Henry County Police Chief Mark Amerman. “He shot at SWAT officers, he shot at the first responding officers, obviously two of them were hit.

“Our armored vehicles that were out there to assist us they were hit.”

Police have identified the officers shot as Keegan Merritt and Taylor Webb. They are said to be 7-year veterans of the force. They were taken to an Atlanta area hospital for treatment and are expected to survive.
