Eagles fans are still flying high a day after Georgia Southern’s 20 point victory, over the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
This victory for the Eagles comes after three straight losses to the Mountaineers.
Georgia Southern freshman Armenda Stringer said she was happy to witness this game and see the team win against one of it’s biggest rivalries.
“It was fun sitting in the bleachers and you know yelling for the team. We played so good, we barely let them score,” Stringer said.
Sophomore Jalon Ross told News 3 he could only describe the game as mind-blowing. Ross said being in the stands Thursday night, was electric.
He said after every play, there was an instant reaction. However, he said the biggest reaction to the game was the one where fans stormed the field.
“Running on the field, easily one of my top college moments. Electrical feeling running out there with the rest of my classmates, rest of the football team. Amazing moment,” Ross said.
This feeling of excitement wasn’t just contained to campus. It’s spilled over into some local businesses in the area, who are proudly displaying Georgia Southern signage, such as the Eagle Creek Brewing Company.
“I was overwhelmed with excitement getting to see a team thrive and a stadium come together and be apart of a big win,” Garrett English, manager of Eagle Creek Brewing Company, said.
In two weeks the Georgia Southern plays Troy State, and whichever team wins between the two, will host the Sun Belt Conference.
