Early voting for an upcoming special election in Richmond Hill is underway. And on March 11, voters will have a chance to hear from the candidates themselves.
The election will fill the Councilmember Post 1 seat vacated by the death of Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Johnny Murphy in December.
The following candidates have qualified for the race:
- Kristi F. Cox
- Wayne Jackson
- Darryl Lawrence
- David T. London
- Justin McBride
- John Ring
Voters can ‘Meet the Candidates’ at a forum held by the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce on Monday, March 11.
It’s happening at Richmond Hill High School (East Campus Cafeteria) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Questions for the candidates are being accepted in advance. Voters are asked to e-mail them to info@RHBCchamber.org by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6.
Those attending are also asked to RSVP online by e-mail (info@RHBCchamber.org) or by calling 912-756-3444. Light refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.
All candidates have confirmed their attendance.
Early voting will take place from Feb. 25 to March 15 at the J.W. Stevens Wetlands Education Center in J.F. Gregory Park (500 Cedar Street, Richmond Hill). Polls are open for advance voting from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On Election Day — Tuesday, March 19 — polls at the center will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
If necessary, a runoff election will be held April 16.
The League of Women Voters will be holding a registration event during the Meet the Candidates Forum on March 11. Just be sure to bring the proper information.
