Early morning fire on E. 34th Street displaces 5 people; no injuries reported

At 3:09 a.m. on Friday, Savannah Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 504 E. 34th Street.  Firefighters discovered a two-story home fully engulfed and a blaze at the house next door. The flames from the fire at 504 E. 34th Street had spread to the second floor of 502 E. 34th Street.

Crews were able to extinguish both fires and prevented the blaze from extending to other portions of the house. No one was injured, but a total of five residents from the two homes were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
