Authorities ID body of woman recovered from Savannah River

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - Authorities have identified the body of a woman pulled from the Savannah River on Saturday, June 2.

According to the Savannah Police Department, the deceased was 23-year-old Olutoba Akomolede.

SPD cannot say how long she had been in the water. They did not provide details on the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to her obituary, "Toba" was from Mason, Ohio, in Savannah pursuing her master's degree at Savannah College of Art and Design.

"Toba was an artist and loved to read. She created digital art, cartoons/animations, comic books and visual novels," the obit says.

She is survived by her parents and six siblings.
