SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Crews responded to an explosion Tuesday morning at Derst Baking Company in Savannah.

Two employees reported minor injuries in the incident.

According to the Savannah Fire Department (SFD), a small dust explosion occurred in a flour mixing room at the plant, located at 1311 Mills B. Lane. One wall was damaged.

The road was closed down temporarily for crews to respond and reopened by 9:40 a.m.

The building’s fire suppression system extinguished the fire and SFD crews checked for hot spots.

A fire investigator was called to the scene to look into the cause of the explosion.
