CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — A two-car crash shut down Highway 80 Monday night at the intersection of Quarterman Drive on Talahi Island.

Authorities said a woman needed to be airlifted to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. It took first responders several minutes to extract her from the Hyundai Accent she was driving.

Now identified as Ann Johnson, of Savannah, the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said she ran a red light at the intersection and hit a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Cade Raeburn, also of Savannah.

GSP said Raeburn was attempting to turn left. Meanwhile, witnesses said his vehicle flipped several times after impact.

Raeburn was taken to Memorial Health via ambulance. Details on the drivers’ conditions are unknown at this time.

The intersection was closed for nearly three hours, from about 8 p.m. to just before 11 p.m.

No word on any charges at this time.
