Business Owner to Toast Breast Cancer Survivors

Local News

Remarkable breast health support for women.
Rafael Arguelles, President of Tandem Coffee & Spirits is sponsoring an event to celebrate the life of breast cancer survivors.
Arguelles was inspired to pay it forward after his sister Sheyla was diagnosed with breast cancer last June.  He says there’s hope.
Early detection is the key.
“She’s only 51 years old.  Never smoked, never drank, ballet classes every week, very fit.  So it can hit anybody.
In her case it grew basically in a month from melanoma to her breast.”
Now Rafael is doing his part to make sure no woman struggles finacially to pay for mammograms.
He’s calling on breast cancer survivors to wear pink and buy a special pink drink Saturday at Tandem bar.
25 percent of the proceeds will go to Telfair Mammography Fund at St. Joseph’s/Candler to help the uninsured and underinsured pay for breast screenings.
“One of the things we like to call it is a toast to life,” Arguelles said.
“We’re gonna be toasting to these survivors on their lives.  That’s where we will raise our glasses and have a fun day.”
The Toast of Life is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday at Tandem Coffee & Spirits – 225 East Bay Street
in downtown Savannah.
Your glasses will be a keepsake.
