BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – A bus monitor in Bulloch County is out of a job, accused of slapping a child.

The Bulloch County School System said one of its bus drivers reported monitor Carolyn Williams on April 30 for hurting a child. According to that driver, Williams slapped an elementary school student during a morning route.

The school’s transportation director confirmed the assault by pulling surveillance video from the bus. Williams was immediately relieved of her duties pending an investigation.

The school district has released a statement regarding the incident, which reads, in part:

The bus monitor is no longer employed by Bulloch County Schools. The bus driver and Transportation Director followed all of our mandated reporting and safety protocols, which are in place to help ensure the safety of our children.

Williams turned herself in Monday to the Bulloch County Jail and is charged with simple battery.

News 3 went to Williams’ home to speak with her about this case but got no answer. News 3 is also working to get a copy of the surveillance video and the incident report
