BURTON, SC (WSAV) – UPDATE: According to BCSO, shooting suspect, Terrance Morgan, 30, faces additional charges for pointing a handgun at investigators during his arrest Monday.

Authorities brought Morgan into custody after an overnight shooting on Roberts Lane in Burton that killed Medicus Watson, 26, and injured two others.

Morgan was originally charged with Murder, Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Tuesday morning, investigators obtained arrest warrants to charge Morgan with three counts of Pointing and Presenting a Firearm. According to BCSO, Morgan pointed a handgun twice at arresting officers.

Morgan was served with the new arrest warrants at the Detention Center, where he remains incarcerated.

Morgan has yet to receive a bond hearing for the Murder, the Attempted Murder, the Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime or the three new charges.

“When first responders arrived one man was found shot dead at the scene, the other two wounded and transported to the hospital.”

That’s why Beaufort County Sheriff’s deputies were seemingly everywhere at this Roberts Lane property Monday morning.

They scoured the area looking for clues into what happened that led to the death of 26 year old Medicus Watson.

“Witnesses and evidence found at the scene show there was an exchange of gunfire,” explained Major Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. “and Medicus Watson and the others were struck as a result.”

Sheriff’s investigators say there was a “gathering” at a shed ono the property, and where a fight over a card game escalated. Shots rang out outside that shed just before 2am.

Terrance Morgan suffered a minor injury in the shootout. Another unnamed man was hit multiple times and remains in the hospital. Medicus Watson was shot and killed.

While detectives wouldn’t admit alcohol was a factor, they do say drinking and firearms don’t mix.

“Interpersonal violence can only be stopped by those involved,” said Major Bromage. “Its one of those crimes that can only be prevented by those who are involved in the acts of violence.”

Violence which investigators say can only be stopped when people step up, help deputies, and take these guns off the streets.

“We did a search warrant Friday night and found handguns and several long rifles that may be connected to some of these incidents,” said Major Bromage. “We encourage people to call Crimestoppers if they want to remain anonymous and give us information on where some of these guns are and the suspects.”

Morgan was arrested at a Grays Hill residence without incident. He is currently being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
