A Beaufort County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Friday night.
Around 9 p.m., Port Royal police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the residence of Sergeant Jacob Scott. Following an investigation into the disturbance, Port Royal police officers arrested Scott for the offense of Domestic Violence 2nd Degree.
Following his arrest, Scott was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated. He is expected to have a bond hearing for the offense Saturday. Scott—an eight year employee of the Sheriff’s Office—will be suspended with pay pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation by the Sheriff’s Office’s Office of Professional Responsibility.
