TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) — The mystery of several barrels seemingly washing ashore on Tybee Island on Friday morning has been solved.
According to Shawn Gillen, Tybee City Manager, the barrels/cans that were knocked over were trash receptacles and all belong to the Island. Gillen says they were knocked over by a higher than normal high tide, but did not wash ashore from another location.
The barrels were cleaned up by the Department of Public Works.
