America’s Second Harvest announces Summer Feeding sites

Local News

Summertime can be challenging for children at-risk of hunger to have access to proper nutrition.

Because free or reduced-price school lunches aren’t available, America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia will be providing another option.

Various feeding sites will be open throughout Appling, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, and Wayne counties starting the last week of May.

You can find the nearest Summer Feeding site by texting FoodGA to 877-877 or call 211.

The Summer Feeding program debuted in 2009 with only eight sites in Bulloch and Chatham counties. Last year, more than 42,000 children at-risk for hunger visited one of the 62 feeding sites.
