SAVANNAH, Ga – Military, first responders and their families laced up their running sneakers on Saturday for the annual Savannah Mile!
The Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire hosted the event for the 14th consecutive year, adding a special element to Savannah’s Memorial Day celebration. Many first responders and military members ran in full uniform and 30-pound gear.
The proceeds will go to assist families of first responders who die or suffer critical injuries in the line of duty.
The run began at the south end of Forsyth Park and finished at Broughton Street. This was followed by a Memory Walk, held for the families of fallen heroes to walk the mile in memory of their loved one.
