Save the date! The new Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is pleased to announce the inaugural “A Fishy Affair: Malicious…but Delicious” at The Landings Plantation Club on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 6:00 pm. The event is open to the public, ticket costs are $60 per person.
Four of Savannah’s most respected chefs will cook up their best Lionfish dishes in an effort to encourage restaurants to put Lionfish on their menu, since they are invasive — but tasty — creatures. The participating chefs are sushi chef, Jun Kang of The Landings Club, executive chef, Roberto Leoci or Leoci’s Trattoria and Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, chef, Drue Longo of 39 Rue De Jean and executive chef, Matthew J. Rojer of The Landings Club.
“Lionfish are threatening the Atlantic Ocean and our beloved Gray’s Reef”, said Kathy Levitt, a Foundation board member and organizer of this event. “We hope everyone in the coastal region will support the new Gray’s Reef Marine Sanctuary Foundation and will plan to join us at A Fishy Affair in September. It will be both an educational and entertaining evening; we aim to raise awareness about Lionfish, Gray’s Reef, and our new foundation.
A Fishy Affair: Malicious…but Delicious will feature a full dinner, a short Lionfish film, a live Lionfish, a free signature cocktail and a member/cash bar. Tickets will go on sale in late July. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and all proceeds from the evening benefit Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation to support ocean conservation, education and Georgia’s own National Marine Sanctuary.
