SAVANNAH, Ga (WSAV) — A crash on Highway 17 claimed the life of a man Wednesday evening.
According to Georgia State Patrol, a tow truck was traveling north on GA 25 near Chief of Love Road making a U-turn to travel in the southbound lanes. A gold GMC Yukon in the same direction was unable to stop and struck the tow truck. After the impact, the Yukon burst into flames.
Troopers responded to the two-vehicle crash at 6:36 p.m.
The driver of the GMC Yukon, identified as Adam Mitchel Daughtry, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Northbound lanes of Highway 17 were shut down from Chief O.F. Love Rd. South to the Bryan County line due to the accident.
The Georgia State Patrol Troop F Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
