Statesboro, GA – Georgia Southern is gearing up for their first home opener of the season after shaking off their shut out loss, 44-0 against West Virginia last Saturday, September 5th. West Virgina was Georgia Southern’s first game against a Big 12 opponent. West Virginia’s quarterback threw for 359 yards. On the Eagles side, Matt Breida had 70 rushing yards on 17 carries and quarterback, Favian Upshaw gained 64 yards on 16 carries. The Eagles had five turnovers during the game. Coach Fritz is now getting ready for their next opponent the West Michigan Broncos. The Eagles play them at 6 P.M. The Eagles have won eight straight home openers and this will be GSU’s first non-conference game against an FBS opponent.
