First round of Democratic debate kicked off Wednesday night

(NBC News) – The first Democratic debate of the 2020 election cycle kicked off Wednesday night.

Ten candidates took the stage in Miami last night in the first of two back-to-back debates. The goal for most was to pitch to voters and to leave a lasting impression on viewers. 

The candidates discussed a variety of issues, from immigration, the economy and equal pay to health care and foreign policy.
