After responding to a call to assist a citizen, four firefighters narrowly escaped what could have been serious injuries.
According to a news release by Mark Keller, the firefighters were returning to their station when a bullet hit and shattered the windshield of their fire engine.
The bullet struck the driver’s side of the windshield and ricocheted against the inside of the windshield before landing on the machine’s dashboard.
Luckily, no one was seriously hurt but two of the firefighters were hit by the breaking glass but didn’t require any medical treatment.
The situation is now being investigated by detectives in the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department.
