Chatham Co. Disaster Recovery Center closing, last day to register with FEMA


SAVANNAH, GA (WSAV) – Those looking for recovery help after Hurricane Matthew have until 7 p.m. on Friday, December 16 to register with FEMA for disaster assistance.

According to a release, after the registration deadline and the disaster center closes, survivors whose homes or businesses were affected by the hurricane can still receive updates on their applications, learn about the appeals process or check the stats of their claim the following ways:

It is encouraged that Georgia survivors who registered for assistance stay in touch with FEMA. If you change your addresses or phone numbers, you should also update FEMA with the information.

Missing or information that isn’t up-to-date could result in delays on disaster assistance.

Federal assistance is available to eligible individuals and households in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Wayne counties. Damage or losses from Hurricane Matthew must have occurred Oct. 4-15.
