Bond hearing set for former Charleston cop charged with murder

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The former North Charleston Police Officer arrested and charged with murder for shooting Walter Scott after a traffic stop will face a bond court judge in August.

Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson made the announcement from her twitter account on Thursday, August 6.

We’re learning the hearing will take place at the Charleston City Courthouse.

Charleston attorney Andy Savage filed a motion Tuesday asking for a hearing on his request that former officer Michael Slager be released from jail.

Slager has been indicted on a charge of murder in the shooting death of 50-year-old Walter Scott. A bystander’s cellphone video showed Slager firing eight times as Scott tried to run from a traffic stop near Craig Street and Remount Road .
