TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) – The waterlogged tradition continues — Tybee’s annual Beach Bum Parade.
The event is billed as “the south’s largest water fight.”
Hundreds of people lined up on Butler Avenue in anticipation for floats to drive by and soak them with water as they spray right back.
Organizers say it’s a family friendly event focused on fun. But don’t think that means people don’t take it seriously.
Some paradegoers have multiple containers that hold more than a hundred gallons of water.
News 3 spoke with a family that even flew out from Chicago to put their water guns to good use. The mom says it’s one of the only times she gets to act like a kid.
There are just a few rules: no water balloons or ice water. Also, spraying police officers is strictly prohibited.
