Following a 23 year career in television news, Jesse Blanco remains one of Savannah/Hilton Head Island’s most recognizable television personalities. The last four years, Jesse has been Host and Executive Producer of Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco, a TV show about The South and Southern Cuisine.
A native of Miami, Jesse has had the opportunity to live all over the country. Miami to New York City, Nashville to El Paso, Texas. Those travels have exposed him to not all only tons of different cultures, but also the foods of those regions. You pair that with a journalistic curiosity to constantly meet new people and try new things and you get TV anchor turned “foodie.”
Jesse holds the unique distinction being able to say he was Savannah’s 1st Hispanic Sports Anchor when he originally moved to the region in 1999 and later became the city’s 1st Hispanic News Anchor in July 2008 when he anchored Savannah’s 10:00pm newscast on WTGS. Like so many people he moved to Savannah and immediately fell in love with the area. Jesse is also a food columnist for the Savannah Morning News. You’ll find his work every Thursday in the paper’s “Do Savannah” section.
When he isn’t tinkering with recipes or frequenting one of the area’s restaurants or producing his TV show, you’ll find Jesse screaming at his television rooting on his hometown Miami Dolphins, Hurricanes, Heat or Marlins.
