Savannah, GA – It’s hard to believe that 2015 has come and gone. During this year many local schools have made history while others fell short. In the college world, a change in coaches seems to be the common factor. Early in the year Jenkins won a basketball state championship after 47 years. The Lady Cavs won their first volleyball state championship. The Memorial Day Blue Thunder won their third straight GISA state title. Its been since 1964 since Glynn Academy made it to the finals in the GHSA Class AAAAA title. But after 51 years the Red Terrors fell short to the Allatoona Buccaneers. Steve Spurrier, head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks, retired during his 11th season. They hired Auburn defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp. Georgia fired Mark Richt and hired Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. And last but not least, the Georgia Southern Eagles make it to their first bowl game and win, beating Bowling Green. Coach Fritz leaves for Tulane and GSU hires Colorado States’ defensive coordinator Tyson Summers.
