Authorities have made two arrests for the theft of tens of thousands of dollars in farming equipment, supplies and grain.

In October 2018, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by Screven County authorities to assist in an investigation of $500,000 worth of grain stolen from AGrowStar Grain, LLC, based in Davisboro.

The company reported that employees and contractors were suspected of taking and selling grain for personal gain.

Nearly five months later, two men have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to the GBI, on Monday, Jan. 28, 48-year-old Steven Reddick was arrested for theft by taking. He is accused of stealing approximately $10,000 worth of farming supplies and equipment from AGrowStar.

The GBI executed a search warrant at Reddick’s home in Burke County, located approximately 40 miles northwest of Screven County. Authorities say AGrowStar property was recovered from his home during the search.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, another man was arrested for stealing $34,000 worth of grain from the same company. The GBI and Screven County Sheriff’s Office took Billy Sasser, 36, into custody for theft by taking.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information in connection with the investigation can contact the GBI at 912-871-1121.
