JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — A man is behind bars for involvement in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy.
On Oct. 16, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at Lady Banks Drive in Ridgeland, South Carolina. The 15-year-old victim was transported to Savannah Memorial Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) originally ruled the shooting as possibly accidental, but after further investigation, evidence showed that the shooting was not accidental.
Based on the evidence obtained, Jasper County detectives obtained arrest warrants for 28-year-old Kylen Xavier Pinckney. Pinckney was later arrested in Bamberg, South Carolina, and transported back to Jasper County on Oct. 22.
Once at the Jasper County Detention Center, Pinckney was charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony, and breaking into a motor vehicle.
