Savannah Police say road closures for the St. Patrick’s Day festival taking place on Saturday, March 16, have begun.

As of Friday morning, River Street has closed to traffic. Also, streets in and surrounding City Market have closed to traffic and will reopen after the festival–these streets include Julian between MLK and Montgomery as well as Jefferson between Bryan and Congress.

Police say they will close Bay Street if crowd levels are too high.

The Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at 10:15 a.m. on March 16 and roads along the route close at 8 a.m.

The route runs north on Abercorn to Broughton Street, then east on Brought to East Broad Street; Bay Street from Broad to Bull and then from Bull to Bay Street until it ends at Bull and Harris streets.

Squares on the parade route close from midnight Friday to 6 a.m on Saturday.

Vehicles will be towed along the parade route starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday.
