The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is hosting two events Saturday in support of local charities.

From 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. CCSO is hosting a dog adoption event with Operation New Hope. 14 dogs — which have been leash and crate trained — will be up for adoption in Parking Lot A at the Sheriff’s Complex (1050 Carl Griffin Dr.).

All dogs are up-to-date on their shots and have been spayed or neutered.

In the afternoon, ‘Shooting with the Sheriff’ at the Forest City Gun Club (9203 Ferguson Ave.) begins.

Sheriff John Wilcher is hosting the sporting clay event to raise money for Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes. It’s a residential care program that helps children who have been abused, neglected and abandoned.

The event’s welcome will be held at 1:30 p.m. and shooting will begin at 2:00 p.m.
