Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in McIntosh County on Tuesday.
The incident happened around 9:20 a.m. on I-95 southbound at mile marker 61, impacting traffic in the area for nearly four hours.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), preliminary information indicates that a Georgia State Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Sasha Ann Pishko of Clermont, Florida.
GBI says Pishko managed to drive off, hitting the trooper, later identified as Trooper First Class Glen Walters, with her vehicle.
Walters fired multiple rounds into the vehicle and Pishko managed to drive a short distance before wrecking.
According to the GBI, Pishko was pronounced dead at the scene. Walters suffered minor injuries.

An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 27 to determine Pishko’s cause and manner of death.
Records show Pishko has been arrested in Florida multiple times in recent years. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office tells News 3 they were the ones to contact her mother about the incident in Georgia.
According to booking records, she has been arrested on five different occasions since 2017.
Most recently, she was booked in October of 2018 for possession of MDMA and methamphetamine, both violations of probation, as well as fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement.
Records show she was just released about 2.5 weeks ago on Feb. 9.
The GBI’s investigation is ongoing. Upon completion, it will be turned over to the district attorney for review.
