SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Police have arrested two individuals for leaving their dog in an extremely hot car on Saturday.
The Savannah Police Department (SPD) says the car was off when Katherine Gelser and Gurpreet Singh walked away from the dog heading into the Target on East Victory Drive.
According to a police report obtained by News 3, a witness told officers the animal was panting heavily and barking.
The dog was taken to an animal shelter where the couple later picked him up. Gelser and Singh were both charged with cruelty to animals.
“It’s going to get extremely hot these next couple of days. Please DO NOT leave pets or children in cars unattended,” SPD posted on Facebook.
