RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) continues to investigate a shooting that left one person dead and another charged with murder in Richmond Hill.

According to the GBI, police responded to a call around 2:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Laurel Hill Circle indicating shots fired and that a man was down.

The Richmond Hill Police Department (RHPD) called in the GBI to assist on Sunday around 3 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Jabez Ali McNair, 19, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medical aid was rendered, but McNair succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. 

The suspect, 36-year-old Eric Montrell Wright, was still on scene and was taken into custody by RHPD. The GBI has charged Wright with murder.

McNair and Wright both lived at the home where the shooting occurred. McNair was in a relationship with Wright’s daughter.

McNair’s body will be taken to the Coastal Crime Lab in Pooler for an autopsy.

This investigation is ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, it will be given to the Atlantic Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
