Police: Richmond Hill murder victim found injured near local business

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) – Police are offering new details on a murder investigation in Richmond Hill.

Last week, the Richmond Hill Police Department announced the arrest of Richard Dodson, 38, on charges of murder and aggravated assault. Officials said he was taken into custody early Friday morning near his home in the Waterford Subdivision.

In an update released Wednesday, the department said the investigation the night before Dodson’s arrest. Police say he and the victim, now identified as Madison Bishop, were allegedly involved in a “violent confrontation” in the parking lot a local Richmond Hill business.

A witness apparently saw Bishop injured in the parking lot and called 911 to the scene. She was taken to the hospital via ambulance for treatment of a head wound and succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

Dodson was then identified as the suspect and warrants were obtained for his arrest.

Details on the relationship between the suspect and victim, if any, have not been released at this time.

Dodson remains in custody at the Bryan County Detention Center.
