Police: Shooting victim, dad crash into wall heading to Beaufort hospital

BEAUFORT, S.C. (WSAV) – Beaufort Police say a dad was taking his son, who had been shot, to the hospital when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a wall.

Around 1 a.m. Wednesday, Beaufort Police officers and Beaufort County deputies responded to multiple reports of people hearing gunshots in the area of Greene and Bladen streets.

While law enforcement was on the scene, Beaufort Police said they were dispatched to a crash that damaged property.

Police said they found the incidents were connected.

According to Beaufort Police, a male victim had been shot in the arm by “an unknown black male suspect” in the area of Greene Street. He ran to his home and asked his father to take him to the hospital for treatment.

Police said on the way to the hospital, the father lost control and struck a wall, resulting in “undisclosed injuries.”

Beaufort Police said the gunshot victim was treated and released from Beaufort Memorial Hospital. His father was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina.
