KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Professional golfer, Gene Siller was killed at an Atlanta-area country club as police search for his killer.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the slaying occurred Saturday afternoon at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw.
Both the Georgia State Golf Association and the Georgia Section of the PGA of America offered condolences to Siller’s family.
Authorities did not immediately identify the victim or release additional details about the shooting. But footage from WAGA-TV showed a white pickup truck stuck on a hill in the middle of the club’s golf course.
According to NBC News, Siller was on the course’s 10th hole responding to an issue when a man drove the white pickup truck onto a sand trap. Siller approached the truck and was shot and killed.
The country club is near the campus of Kennesaw State University. The school tweeted that there were no credible threats to campus.
A GoFundMe has been created for Siller’s family. A $100,000 goal was set and nearly halfway completed at the time of the publishing of this story.
