A known meth dealer also wanted for shooting a 23-year-old woman has been arrested, according to police.

30-year-old Jason Barker has been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and multiple felony drug charges.

He was on parole through Clayton County, Georgia, and was also wanted for a parole violation at the time of his arrest.

According to the Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) Barker was involved in a shooting on Chevis Road last month. Around 5:00 a.m. on Feb. 11, a 23-year-old woman was walking with a friend when she was shot and received non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say Barker is a known methamphetamine dealer in the county.

As a part of a joint investigation, on Friday, March 22, the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) and the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Barker in his room at a hotel on Bourne Avenue in Pooler.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Agents searched his hotel room and found a large amount of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, and items commonly associated with drug distribution. Authorities say the drugs have an estimated street value of up to $5,000.

Nearly $5,000 and a vehicle were also seized.

CNT’s investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are possible

Barker is being held in the Chatham County Detention Center.
