SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A high-speed chase down Abercorn Street caused multiple collisions Thursday evening.

According to Savannah Police, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 5000 block of Emory Drive around 7 p.m. When police arrived, they identified a vehicle they believed was involved and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled causing a pursuit.

A police vehicle struck a curb and then a concrete pole during the pursuit while attempting to avoid a civilian’s vehicle that merged in front of him.

The suspect’s vehicle fled from the traffic stop and was involved in an accident at Dutchtown Road and Abercorn Street and then ran away on foot, but was captured.

At the scene of the Dutchtown Rd and Abercorn accident, a police vehicle hit a large ditch while driving through the grass, causing moderate damage to the vehicle.

All officers involved were medically evaluated and released from the hospital.
