A grand jury has cleared a group of Savannah Police officers in the shooting death of a Savannah man. During a hearing, jurors decided not to charge the officers.
The shooting happened at America’s Best Value Inn last December. Savannah Police say they were responding to a deadly shooting when they asked three people to come out of a motel room. Georgia State Patrol was also on the scene and no officers were injured in the incident.
According to an indictment, Joshua Boyd shot Sandee Warren and then repeatedly asked police to shoot him. He then pulled out a gun, pointing it at officers. When they asked him to put it down, he refused.
Police then opened fire, killing Boyd.
