Foul play suspected in disappearance of Beaufort Co. teen, investigators say

Crime & Safety

Beaufort County investigators say foul play may be involved in the disappearance of an 18-year-old last seen over a week ago.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Malik Spencer, 18, was last seen early Tuesday, Dec. 18 in his home in Lobeco, located about 10 miles north of Beaufort.

Family members reported Spencer missing the following night.

He did not show up for work on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Family members say it is out of character for him to miss work and be out of contact with them.

On Friday, Dec. 21, BCSO recovered Spencer’s Toyota Camry in a rural, residential are on St. Helena Island. Deputies, K-9 units and the Bloodhound Team searched for him in the area, but did not locate Spencer.

BCSO says some information obtained by investigators leads them to suspect foul play in Spencer’s disappearance.

Their investigation continues.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call investigator Brian Abell at 843-255-3436.
