Family pleads for answers in 2016 homicide case

Crime & Safety

The family of an Atlanta man shot and killed during Orange Crush weekend is still pleading for answers two years later.

Brandon Champion, 25 of Atlanta, was visiting Savannah with his friends in April 2016 to participate in the weekend’s festivities.

The Sunday after Orange Crush, Champion was found on the road along Truman Parkway suffering from gunshot wounds.

He died at the hospital.

On Friday, Champion’s family traveled to Savannah to help bring his killer to justice.

“No matter how long, how far, no matter where they take us – we’re not going to quit until we get answers,” said Alvin Champion, Brandon’s father.

He said his son had never been to Savannah prior to Orange Crush weekend. Police say there was no link between the incident that occurred and the Orange Crush event.

According to the Savannah Police Department, no one has come forward with any information about what led to his death.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
