HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) – The cause of death of a Hilton Head Island couple remains unclear after a forensic autopsy.

Michael Klesh, 39 and Sophie Klesh, 33, were found dead in their home on Spanish Wells Road in the Bryant Park Cottages community on Wednesday.

Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) were called to the house around 10 a.m. for a health and welfare check.

“The causes and manners of their deaths were not apparent to forensic pathologists during today’s autopsies,” BCSO stated. The autopsies were conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The sheriff’s office says toxicology studies will be performed to help make those determinations.

Anyone with information in the Klesh’s deaths is asked to call Corporal Kerry Johnson at 843-255-3438 or CrimeStoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111 if wishing to remain anonymous and for possible reward.
