South Carolina authorities say they have found the remains of Ashley Murdaugh who was reported missing by her family on August 8.
Investigators with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office searched an area off Cumberland Street in Walterboro. They say the location was based on information obtained through a dozen interviews.
Around 12:30 p.m., investigators, K-9s and a rescue team located the buried remains of a young, white female. The coroner’s office and family members identified the remains as those of 30-year-old Murdaugh.
The manner of the death is unknown, pending the results of an autopsy.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office says they are confident that arrests will be made in the case within the next 24 hours.
Walterboro is a city located about 20 miles northeast of Yemassee.
