A Bluffton woman faces multiple felony DUI charges after a crash in the Lowcountry left four people injured.

According to Bluffton Police, on Tuesday, March 12 around 10:15 p.m., 51-year-old Michelle Pearson was at an intersection of Highway 278 and turned into oncoming traffic on Buck Island Road.

Police say two others ran into Pearson’s vehicle and four people were injured as a result.

Pearson was arrested that night for driving under the influence, but “due to the extent of injuries the four people received as a result of the collision,” her charges were upgraded to felony DUI.

Pearson turned herself into the Bluffton detectives Monday morning. Authorities say she will make a court appearance Tuesday morning.
