10-year-old boy says he was choked by burglar in Ardsley Park home

Crime & Safety

Savannah Police are investigating a violent attack reported in the Ardsley Park neighborhood on Friday night.

A 10-year-old boy says he was choked inside his home by a burglar who stole his video games.

The boy says he was playing video games when someone broke into his home around 10:30 p.m. and squeezed his neck until he was left unconscious.

He says when he regained consciousness, he saw someone dressed in all back and possibly wearing a mask, walk towards the back door.

The suspect is accused of stealing the boy’s video games.

The child’s mother was upstairs sleeping when the attack happened and his father was at work.

“The fact that somebody, anybody, can just walk into somebody’s house, break in, and then assault a kid, they deserve a special kind of hell,” says Eldon Shaffer, father.

The 10-year-old is doing better and will probably undergo counseling.

If you have any information about this case, call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020.

Residents in the neighborhood are meeting Thursday night to discuss safety and other issues.
