Man dead, teen arrested in West Savannah shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A 31-year-old man has died and a teenager arrested in a shooting Wednesday morning in West Savannah.

According to the Savannah Police Department (SPD), officers responded around 8 a.m. to the 1600 block of Coventry Street and found Branden Lewis suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

He later succumbed to the injury, SPD said.

Soon after, detectives identified Eric Hills, 17, as a suspect. He was arrested and charged with murder.

A spokesperson for the police department did not have details on the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

SPD says they continue to investigate, and anyone with information on the incident can call the SPD Crime Tip Line at 912-525-3124.
