SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Local groups are gearing up for Thanksgiving with food giveaways for neighbors in need.
Organizations are opting for either drive-thru or in-person events to serve delicious, hot meals.

Antioch Educational Center
The Antioch Educational Center‘s (AEC) Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner is set for Thursday, Nov. 25, from 2 to 5 p.m.
Low-income residents of Jasper County are invited to the drive-thru event at the Mount Carmel Baptist Association (3763 Bees Creek Road in Ridgeland).
Residents can pop their trunks or roll down their windows to get their meals and drinks.
AEC officials say this is the second time they’ve hired caterers to serve holiday meals. They anticipate 600 to 700 guests to take part in the event.
Fight the War Within
Fight the War Within Foundation is hosting its second annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion in Thunderbolt.
Catered by The Dive Savannah, the meal will consist of the usual Thanksgiving dishes: turkey, dressing, casseroles, cranberry sauce and more.
Meals will be provided free of charge to the community. Leftovers will be distributed to homeless groups following the dinner.
Fight the War Within will also be collecting gifts from their Amazon Wishlists to provide gits for children in low-income housing. Donations raised at the event will benefit The Dive’s mission to provide for veterans living in the Tiny Homes village during the holidays.
Fight the War Within will also be hosting a Christmas Dinner on Dec. 25.
Catherine Jones Ministries
The Catherine Jones Ministries is hosting a free meal giveaway at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25.
The ministry will hand out hot meals to those in need in the park next to the Bull Street Library (2002 Bull St.).
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is hosting a free Thanksgiving lunch and dinner at 3100 Montgomery Street on Nov. 25. Lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. with dinner to be served between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
