The ‘Ready! Set! Go! Back to School’ annual expo is just a few weeks away.

Last year during the expo, the Ready! Set! Go! Back to School (RSGBTS) committee was able to give away 5,000 bags of school supplies to students who attended the event.

This year, RSGBTS needs your help to reach their goal of providing 5,500 bags with 10-12 school items in each.

You can donate anything from composition notebooks to pencils to glue sticks at the following drop-off locations:

– WSAV-TV – Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – 1430 East Victory Drive

– Holy Spirit Lutheran – Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – 622 E 37th Street

– (more locations to be added soon)

The Back to School Expo is set for Saturday, August 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Savannah Civic Center Arena.

In addition to receiving free school supplies, parents and students can receive valuable information on health, nutrition, safety and after school programs.

Children can even receive health screenings, haircuts and polished nails.

The expo is a free event, so RSGBTS is also looking for vendors, sponsors and volunteers.

For more sponsor and vendor information, visit here.

If you are interested in volunteering, e-mail rsgbts@gmail.com. Community service credits are also available.

As always, proceeds for this event will go back to help provide school supplies for students to start off the year right.

WSAV is a proud sponsor of the event. Tina Tyus-Shaw, Lee Haywood and Ben Senger are already on the lineup to emcee during the expo. They can’t wait to see you!
