Shaynah Ferreira joined the WSAV News 3 team in April 2018 and is thrilled to call the Coastal Empire her new home.
Shaynah is a Rhode Island native, and while she considers herself “a New Englander at heart”, she’s excited to trade in her snow boots for the Georgia heat!
Prior to coming to work in Savannah, she worked as an Assignment Editor and Associate Producer for WJAR NBC 10 in Providence, RI.
She graduated cum laude from Emerson College (#GoLions!) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
While at Emerson, she worked as a Bilingual Reporter and Anchor for Emerson’s award-winning station, WEBN News. She’s had the pleasure of covering the 88th and 89th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, The Boston Marathon, The Million Man March and The Pope’s First Visit to the U.S.
She’s held coveted internships with CBS News in Washington, DC and NBC 10 in Providence.
Shaynah speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese and looks forward to using her language skills to help tell the stories of viewers in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
She’s a passionate storyteller and takes pride in finding the heart of every story, which she says is, “the people affected.” She practiced this first-hand on her 2016 trip to the communist island of Cuba. It was there that Shaynah served as a Co-Executive Producer of “Afro-Cuba Libre”, a short documentary on race relations in Cuba.
She’s a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and The National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
When she’s not reporting, she’s always ready to try a new restaurant, travel, get lost in a good book and spend time with family and friends.
If you see her around town, be sure to say hi! She loves meeting new people and making new friends!
