Storm Team 3 Meteorologist
Meteorologist Scott Roberts joined Storm Team 3 in October 2019. He comes to Savannah after serving as chief meteorologist at WDHN-TV in Dothan, Alabama. Scott was the lead meteorologist reporting live as Category 5 Hurricane Michael made landfall in the Florida panhandle in 2018, then, ripped through eastern Alabama and western Georgia as the most powerful hurricane on record to move through that area.
Scott was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, but grew up mainly in Port Charlotte, Florida. Even before Michael, Scott was no stranger to close encounters with powerful hurricanes. While in high school, Category 4 Hurricane Charley made landfall near his home on the southwest Florida coast. The eye of the storm even passed over his neighborhood. The force Charley had and the efforts of the local TV meteorologist to guide the community through the storm reinforced his desire to make meteorology and broadcasting his career.
Scott graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a minor in Climatology before earning a Masters of Science in Geosciences with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. While at Mississippi State, Scott participated in the WxChallenge, a national forecasting competition, and placed first in the graduate student division forecasting for Hilo, Hawaii.
Scott has been forecasting our southern weather now since 2012 with prior stops in Tupelo, Mississippi and Augusta, Georgia.
